Dear friends,
as you well know during Belgium’s Biennale Interieur, DesignMarketo came up with the idea of the Interieur Bistro: born from the Freshly-cut concept, we aimed to offer visitors a selection of local, fresh and original products made from the combination of food and design.
Located on the 1st floor of the Buda Factory, Interieur Bistro was conceived as a hybrid between a restaurant and a design exhibition in which visitors could pick their favourite seat out of hundreds of displayed chairs and meet and mingle with fellow design-minded souls, day and night.
Our freshly-cut journey then gradually developed into the Bistro concept and turned out into a place where to share, enjoy good food and taste great designs.
Choosing from more than 200 chairs, we welcomed our visitors into the restaurant-lounge and invited them to choose their place along one of the 20 communal tables. These were equipped with personal table kits and trays full of freshly grown plants to allow diners to customise each dish with their personal fresh touch.
Walking through the space, visitors could smell the flavour of lovely fresh herbs, and to one corner a small greenhouse held within the very heart of our project, local fresh products! These products were the base for our freshly made daily menus – small or medium sized according to your needs – one could have taken a peek at the open kitchen and made their choices, from a selection of either meat, veggies, fish or a traditional Belgium delicacy served with the right beer or wine.
Engaging all senses and laying its foundations in everyday life, freshly-cut was thought as an all-encompassing, immersive experience. Soft lighting from 100 design hanging lights, a colourful tent matching the shape of the greenhouse, hanging gardens of upside-down herbs and plants and a carefully selected music soundtrack for the event, made of it all a challenging, fun, exhausting and rewarding experience.
DesignMarketo is now ready for new exciting adventures rewarded and enriched by this new experience. What next? A restaurant, a bar or anything that can combine our usual recipe of friendship and design!
