Including an introduction text by Brit Leissler, the book was realised in conjunction with DesignMarketo’s exhibition DesignMarketo en Barcelona at Otrascosas de Villarrosas gallery in Barcelona in December 2011.

The exhibition, designed by Lars Frideen and Jordi Canudas presented a variety of products launched during various events organised.

I always liked the backs of old looking-glass mirrors, and since they are never seen, facing the wall or covered, I wanted to celebrate these surfaces and bring them out. The result is the reflective side now facing inwards and the back is the outside, almost like if you had taken an old mirror and crumbled it in to the shape of a glass.

The beautiful back-side now in front also reflect any surface it sits on a bit like a chameleon.

Not wanting to do too much as they really are just right as they are, I have added a small element that will become apparent, probably only as you drain the last gulp of beer!

I have asked John the sandblaster to make a small lightly misted disc on the base of each glass, highlighting the existing text & logo.

If you ask a child to draw a drinking glass, any drinking glass they can think of, chances are that they would draw something like this Duralex tumbler. This ubiquitous glass has been around so long and in so many countries that it almost has become an icon on its own. This proposal aims to highlight this iconographic shape of the glass even more by turning it into a sketch.
