Swede Light was produced for ‘FoodMarketo’ and is the result of DesignMarketo’s obsession with food and design products. Peter responded to DesignMarketo’s invitation to produce an object for the event and literally combined a vegetable and a light. Swede Light is a compostable table lamp that requires a large, heavy vegetable as the base. Rather than buying a vegetable to eat, the sculptural form and functional qualities are emphasised and the user is invited to experiment creatively with different vegetables. Yams, celeriac and swedes tend to work best.

The lamp was created as a small studio run of sixteen handmade, signed and numbered pieces with variants of switched/unswtiched and pink/pearl bulbs.

Materials: Root vegetables, light bulb, fork, cord

Variations: Different root vegetables

Each piece is numbered 1 to 16.
