Dutch native Els Woldhek (1984) and Bulgarian Georgi Manassiev (1985) met whilst undertaking their MA studies in the Design Products department at The Royal College of Art. After collaborating on several projects they have now set up their joined design studio Odd Matter. Their approach is defined through exploring materials and situations, letting these take part in the design and exploring their specific properties. The balance of qualities and negotiation between the control of the designers and the ‘will’ of the materials leads them to creating unexpected, yet functional and often unique pieces with their own unique character.
Having known Els and Georgi since long, we met up again when we organised Lemonade for All in Sofia. Having always been surprised by their work, it was an honour to have the duo take part in Perfume, Sir? with a very elegant project called Control the Spice. We want more!
