The pieces they create aim to be an extension of personal space in public, both emotionally and physically, commonly referencing parts of the urban environment. They are curious about the lives lived by objects we carry around and how they become part of our vocabulary.
Often their objects reflect architectural functions such as rooms to enter, floors to stand on, windows to look out through and weights that hold you firmly in place. In an autodidact manner they study and appropriate various techniques and materials for each series of objects.
Study O Portable was founded by Bernadette Deddens (MA RCA) and Tetsuo Mukai, and is based in London.
